Daimler’s luxury giant Mercedes-Benz unveiled a
new E Class at this month’s Geneva Motor Show, one so quiet, comfortable, and
assistive, the German engineers recruited singer Dianne Reeves and race-car
legend Jean Alesi to demonstrate its artistry in action.
The new E has a re-tooled suspension and front end, in addition to
a host of technological achievements to impress the fat cats with innovation.
Assistive driving features for Lane Keeping, Attention, Blind Spot, Speed Limit
and Adaptive Highbeam help weary drivers stay on the road safely and pass with
care.
At its best, the all-wheel-drive 2010 E 500 brings a 5.5
liter V8 with 388 hp and a 7-speed automatic gearbox, with an impressive drag-coefficient
of just 0.25. Every conceivable safety feature has been included, from seven
standard airbags to child seat attachments to an active bonnet that increases
its deformation space on impact. A long list of options and equipment packages
make building your own Mercedes as easy as writing a big, big check.
